I've been a cichlid guy for a long time. I'm all about big Central Americans (and select S/A's). Since I've been coming to MFK I've noticed a lot of people with Datnoids. I'm starting to get very interested in them.
I'm not able to go out and buy more tanks everytime I get more fish like some of you guys. I would have to dedicate an existing tank. I have 5 tanks right now. A 253g, 156g, 28g, 20g and a 20-long. I could either use the 253 gallon or the 156 gallon. Maybe the 156 since Dats aren't as aggressive and the cichlids would have more room? I could then get some other fish I've been interested in over the years but not able to keep because of cichlid aggression. Don't laugh but I really want a big Flagtail Prochilodus.
Ok to the point. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I really really like C/A cichlids. Would I like the Dats just as much? Will they hold my interest? They're really expensive so I don't want to waste my money and switch back to cichlids in 6 months lol.
