In the water
I have been looking for fish that won't out grow my 55 gallon tank because I am going to have to get rid of all fish. I really like datnoids but I don't know a lot about them. Will it out grow my 55, how many can I have, and how much do they cost.

They will eventually outgrow it but they grow EXTREMELY slow sometimes only 1-2 inches a year, they are also somewhat pricey but not too bad. a 5" costs about $40-$50 why not get 3x 4-5 inch indos or thinbars and grow them out and hopefull by the time they get too big youll have a bigger tank

Or you could buy a bulk deal and get 10-15 2" datnoids for $8 each and grow them out, of course ud eventually have to sell some of them but theyd look cool in your tank for a year or two

Yeah they would outgrow your tank. Judging by your other thread, I think you should go back to square one and start with Guppies, if that.

well you can see clearly he's got the filteration and water change concept down he just needs help with deciding on a good fish I dont think that just because he's not as knowledgeable about fish like others he should be branded as a bad fish keeper. He said he'd get rid of all his fish because he found out he shouldn't be keeping them and get a more reasonable fish and if that isnt good enough for you then what is?

That sounds like what I am going to do can I breed them and were do I get them

you can ask your lfs to get them, they are extremely hard to breed and I think the only place that breeds them is in malaysia and its a secret how they do it.

Hey bottomfeeder I'm fixing my problem and I'm doing research to find out what fish I should get I'm sorry I'm not perfect like you.

I'm not perfect. I just research...

And Datnoides are not the easiest fish to keep. In all seriousness, you might wanna start with something a bit smaller and less sensitive. Try some smaller Botiine Loaches, a few small Cichlids, or if you want something Oddball-ish or predatory, maybe a Delhezi or a Nandus nandus or a Ctenopoma or something.

Are datnoids very sensative to water conditions because my nitrate it's the only thing that is not perfect and get rid of my fish and a few water changes should fish that. And besides have no idea what the limits of my fish tank are I am pretty good at keeping fish happy, have had some fish that have been picky about water conditions and they did good. I will look at those other fish and thank you for the suggestions
