Hard to keep healthy and what exactly are compatible(if i get some i would plan too get 2 3 max in my 120) and what species would you suggest

They are hard to keep healthy because they are finicky eaters and extremely sensitive to water quality.

Check out some vid and pics. 10inchers are still small and you can enjoy growing them from that size just as easy as 1inch since dats can live 20+years from what ive heard and as they get bigger they take even longer to show signs of growth cause their slow growers. You would be better off with a bigger dats instead of smaller one unless you know how to care for them. And it isnt hard to keep them healthy...you just need to make sure you keep your water good. There are many ways...You just need to read up on them. I would suggest you get yourself a Indo since they are a more hardier dat then the NTT that are mostly seen aswell. NTT's....you just never know what type of $hit they may have with them. And there the ones that can go from eating, looking great and then dead. Do your homework on them and your good. GL

Dats take a lot of work and time to get big and healthy, so when they do get nice and big it is very rewarding... their personality is just a bonus really.

I am going to straight up admit it....

I do my weekly water changes and make sure the tank is clean other than that i don't have time for
and don't take that as arrogance pleaser)
would getting dats be a bad idea?

As soon as you get them eating prepared food, all you need to worry about is water changes and cleaning to keep the nitrates down... personally I have found dats to be pretty hardy once converted to pellets.

i got a baby dat yesterday and i have to say he is the best fish i ever had they are peaceful and is amazing to see the baby eat the ghost shrimp and PE mysis hes like a shark haha and i love the mohawk and they do have a wonderful personality but the only bad thing is that they are pricy they sometimes demand the best food lik ghost shrimp and PE mysis. that stuff is lik 9.00 for 4oz(PE mysis) over all they are no joke the best fish ever and they are very beast.

I love watching mine eat and yawn. I am always surprised by how big their mouths are and how far they extend.

DATNIODS HAVE THE BIGGEST MOUTH they are awesome and look at my sig:) :) :)
