 What does anyone think of putting a dat in with and endli in a 40gal when juvies in order to grow them up Im limited in space for the next or so and that the biggest tank i can stretch to maybe 50 if its tall/

I hear Dats grow pretty slow, so it'd be okay for him. I'm not too sure of the Bichir though...I'm pretty new at them and just starting to learn a bit about them myself.

What kind of bichir? Generally speaking they would be ok while the size difference isn't too large, but datnioides don't seem to be eaten quickly, probably because of there spines.

im going on what ive heard too, i thought they were both slow growing obviously depending on what you feed them. I just love dats and thought a bichir would be good to clear up after him although i dont mind just getting a pair of small dats as with the plans for what my tanks going to look like they will be damm impressive. Whats anyones suggestions

Endlicheri are pretty fast growing compared to dats. I've kept dats and bichirs together for years with no problems. Just make sure that there isn't so much of a size disparity that one can swallow the other. Also, dats will likely out compete bichirs at feeding time, so make sure to also feed sinking pellets or something else that dats aren't likely to eat but bichirs readily will accept.

If the biggest tank you can have is a fifty tall forget the bichir -Anne

I know of a friend who may let me have his young dats 2-3'' how many could i keep and how long before an upgrade?

why wouldnt you bother having them davo, i plan to upgrade to bigger when i have the space and money. I have seen plenty being sold on this and other websites when they get big. I dont aim to be selling them i will get a tank to suit their larger size
