Nice job on mounting up those lights on the c-channel. The spread and color looks really good! Did the manufacture say that they would be coming out with a controller of some sort to add sunrise/sunset dimming & timers to its bag of goodies? Would also be nice if they made it controllable via 3rd party controllers such as an Apex.
 
Finished rearranging the wood, I only added two pieces but they were both fairly large and it allowed me to pile it up a bit higher.

700mm is plenty deep enough, reaching the old wood was a struggle!

After removing the old pile of wood I was able to get a good look at the L14 goldys for the first time since adding them to the tank. Despite never seeing them out to feed they look fat and healthy, good colours and seem to have grown a little.

I'm going to stop feeding the plecs at night and instead try feeding them first thing in the morning before the tank lights come on, there is enough ambient light in the room to see the fish without it being too bright. A couple of the royals usually come out for the morning feed anyway, so hopefully the others will follow suit if I stop feeding them at night.

I like you left just enough room on either side of the tank for a nice set of speakers! Well that's what I would do haha. I would never leave the room
 
Hi David. I've spent the last 2 hours juggling between reading your thread since its beginning and my work at office. Dayyuummm! Fantastic setup. Truly a wake up call for me that my knowledge in aquaria is next to zero.. anyway, fantastic! just fantastic!

Thanks, I'm sure if you keep reading threads like this your brain will be overflowing with great ideas in no time. There's a huge amount of knowledge on these forums, can't imagine how different it would have been for me being able access something like this in my early days of keeping fish. Probably would have saved a few lives though!!
 
With the big Laguna pump and a strategically placed power head most of the muck doesn't settle, the one dead spot is right in front of the stump on the right. It is also where one of the royals hangs out so it gets stirred frequently, but I do vacuum that area weekly. This is what it looks like after feeding them sweet potato.
