All rays from 6" to 17" attempted to eat pellets & wafers, but nothing was swallowed whole.I am stoked that they all seemed interested on the first day!

It almost seemed like they were cautiously taste testing, breaking the food up into smaller pieces and then consuming, but by doing so sending many particles into the water column.I'm hoping that this food will be more accepted in the coming days-without the mess!

My rays have always been fed a softer texture food,so possibly the hardness of these particular products is throwing them off a bit:confused:

Update in a few days.........

Good luck and keep us posted. I would like my rays to eat pellets on occasion for convenience sake.

DIY Food ftw

I had the same problem with massivore getting all broken up before it was eaten. That is why I started making my own food.

If you ever want to try out some Diy food give me a shout. I can give you a few cubes to see if they like it :)

Presoak the mega pellets first or it could turn your rays off them before they even get started.
I think presoaking these pellets for any length of time might just lead up to them being a melted mess, but I could be wrong-I'll give it a shot.

Before starting this I did have luck with putting 3mm Thera mixed into Shark/Ray gel, everything just seemed to be swallowed, probably did'nt even know it was in there!!

Thanks for the offer on the Diy food-might take you up on that;)

I bet they'll eat it!

You're Marble ate it first nite here...... If they've eaten the original gel, they'll likely go bonkers over the DIY stuff...

IMO you'd be better off breaking them up into smaller pieces to get them started. This has proven effective for a number of ray owners when their rays rejected the pellets for the first few days. The 10mm can be pre-soaked for several hours and they will still remain quite firm, so I don't believe that you will gain a lot in overall palatability by pre-soaking them.

Or did pre-soaking work for you, Scott?

I tried them for the first while without presoaking and my rays kept trying to eat them but would spit them out after after a bit not even braking them. By the time I tried the presoaking the rays knew the smell and wouldn't touch them again. I think I would have had alot of success with them if I initially tried the presoaking to make them softer since my rays took after them faster than other pellets I tried.
