Day 1~ NLS 10mm Mega & 12mm Wafer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, thanks. The problem I see with pre-soaking is those 10mm pellets take several hours before they begin to soften up to any extent. Even with the wafers I find that breaking them up works best when initially getting a ray onto them for the first time. That's how I trained Ryan's BDxLeo when he was away over Xmas. After a few days of eating broken up pieces, I went to halfs, then whole pieces. Worked like a charm. :)

Ya the wafers broken up works like a charm on my pups for a first pellet but with my other rays now they just ignore the mega. I should have changed to presoak or broken before they got pissed off at them and are now ignoring them.

LOL, live & learn I guess. :D
The funny part is Ryan had bought a Henlei cross of some sort, 8" when he got it, and it pounded back those 10mm Mega pellets like there was nothing to it. Go figure ...

Well, nine days later and everybody is eating the wafers:) I have temporarily stopped feeding the 10mm mega, but have been having success with 3mm Thera,by itself and mixed with Mazuri gel.

I believe the 10mm Mega will be taken once they really get a taste for this particular food.

My female Henlei has been acting a little strange since starting a new diet-a slight bit sluggish, smaller appetite (still eating).....possible she has 'Montezuma's Revenge'?? lol

I just trained a 6 inch Leo to eat broken massivore. I let frozen prawns defrost ontop of the pellets for a couple hours in a little dish, leave in fridge. . Then add a tablespoon of tank water , mix for 30 secs. This softens the pellets a little bit more. Then dump only pellets. 2 weeks of this and he now accepts pellets straight, no soaking Or marinating anymore.

It's doesn't eat the pellets with the same ferocity as prawns but I'm sure that will change in a few weeks I'm sure.

The rays previous diet was ONLY prawns and whitebait.
