Hey so i work at daycare, and was thinking of setting up a small (25 gallons or less) tank for the children. obviously the rules would be no touching or yelling at the fish and or tank. but im split on if the environment will be to stressful?
I strongly suggest an acrylic tank versus a glass tank that way its more accident proof
yes and very secure top lids to keep unwanted people food/liquids/objects "making" their way to the tank
Some kids would love it, no matter what you put in there. I don't know about the stress factor as kids are usually respectful when taught the right way, I don't see it any different than the fish in the public aquariums anyways.
okay yeah i was thinking a planted acrylic tank with a few small tetras and maybe some corydoras...and an arowana!. haha just just kidding
on a nice adult high stand
Sounds awesome, if you have the skill I'd just be sure to build a stand that wont so much a wobble, if a 10yo runs into it at full speed. I don't like the stands at my shop anywhoo, they are not very sturdy and I worry about my dogs.
Counter, strapped to the wall might not be a bad idea, a desk not so much, I always thought my desk was sturdy untill I put a 10g on it, and the desk bowed.
Go with an oranda and maybe a black moor goldfish. The kids in my wife's daycare loved them two. My tanks in laundry room were off limits to the kids of course. I had a 39 gallon hex set up for the two goldfish with a large bubblewand. The kids wloved that set up. That was 15 years ago the wife is divorced thye kids grown up but the two goldfish in my laundry room with my two 50 breeders. still with me! LOL
