i put in half when i start then put the other in when about halfway done. i dont dose for the whole tank but i put in more than for what im replacing.

+1

same and i use Hikari Ultimate

I always put in more than what I'm replacing, really hard to measure "cap threads" with prime, so I could easily be double dosing without noticing xD

Keep in mind the manufacturer wants you to use up their product so you buy more… so they are most likely rounding their suggested usage up, not down…

The fact that the manufacturer recommends using “1 capful” as a way of measuring 5 ml shows that we are not dealing with a product that requires exact measuring…

The manufacturer states that 1 capful = 5 ml and treats 200 liters or 50 gallons… also shows that we are not dealing with exact measurements since 200 liters is over 52 gallons…

The fact that water conditioners do not warn us about determining our true tank volume gives me yet further confidence that exact measurements are not necessary…

I am thoroughly convinced that there is a very large window/range between what is “enough” Prime/dechlorinator and what is “to much”…

No need to treat dechlorinating like it’s rocket science ;)

I refill with a hose straight from the tap…

I add half of the dosage when I start refilling and the second half about half way through refilling…

I add more Prime than recommended for the amount of gallons I am replacing… but not enough for the full volume of the aquarium…

keep in mind exact measurement are useless as, different places use different amounts of chlorine and chloramines.

i fill my tank with the hose then condition it. its way too much work to do it in buckets and dump it in. i have always done it that way and my fish have always been perfectly healthy.

You can safely go at least 5X the dosage on prime.

That is what it says on the bottle…

But I’m sure you can dose much more than that. Prime isn’t going to take the risk of advising you dose close to the line where it becomes “toxic” or otherwise dangerous to your system…

From what I know the declorinator is not really important for the fish, they can live in starait tap water, the declorinator is to preserve the BB in the filter. Since I have started useing a python to do w/c I add my prime after the tank is filled before I turn the filters back on, and I have nerve had any problems
that is not true. most fish wont last more than a few minutes in tapwater that has lots of chlorine. stop giving out bad advice

True that's like a metal stand saying can only hold 600lbs. I'm sure it's like 700lbs. but this way the company won't be at fault if you put over 600lbs of weight.
