De Nitrator

Ok now Vanilla gorilla sparked my interest in making a sulfer denitrator,Ive read this site {http://www.telic.us/SaltwaterFishTanks/DIYDenitrators/tabid/60/Default.aspx} (version 2) an Im curious about if they need to be dual chambered or if they can be single chambered? I thought of this after reading reading about the Carib-sea NO-NO3 and Carib-sea LSM.

yes they can be just one chamber on some of my smaller tanks I use NO-NO3 in a prosban reactor and it works good

Do you think I can get away with a single chamber on my 120 an a single on my 75?

Also how often do you have to change the NO-NO3?

i think it would depend on your nitrate levels in the tanks

you will have to change the NO-NO3 every 6 months or so

Ok thanks.

why dont you use a normal nitrate reduct. Im using it with big succes. And its pretty easy in use except it needs regeneration every 3 weeks.

Ive tried Seachems De-Nitrate (which did literaly nada). I have 3 bags of Seachem purigen, That didnt seem to drop my nitrates on my big tanks (ive regenerated them twice, an decided there all going to be for my small tank).

The only thing that seems to drop my Nitrates is massive water changes, an thats starting to work on my bank account. So I figured Id try one of these.

i use the shuran nitrate reactor with sulpher as long as you get the drip rate right they are ok

the good thing about the shuran model is it has a 1200 lph circulation pump

you have to make sure thier is no air in the unit and the take 1-2 months to start working well

i used to have trouble keeping my nitrates below 150-180 even with 2 x 25% WC per week since using the unit they are around 30 with the same water changes

one thing you need to keep an eye on is they make the hardness and ph drop
