I woke up this morning to find my favorite clown loach in my shoal (about 5" in length) dead. Just yesterday morning I introduced a new loach, much larger than all the others at about 7-8", to the tank.

The dead loach had no visible signs of injury. Any ideas to what may have caused the loss of one of my favorite fish?

I doubt one thing had anything to do with the other, with that fast a death. No signs of sickness? Check your params.

I did notice that the dead loach was sort of "lodged" under a bit of driftwood that it normally doesn't hide under, though I'm not sure how truely "stuck" it was. Maybe the new one scared it and it got stuck.

I'm about to check my params.

Interesting...

I wasn't able to check all of my paramaters today because I'm out of some of my tests. Ammonia and nitrite are zero, but that is to be expected. pH is 7.1.

i keep 10 CLs with my africans...always have. that 3yo has been w/ africans since day 1. always been healthy and very active and dead today.

Any signs your Africans might have killed it?

This thread is starting to get me worried. I have never used a q tank, but I might have to get one started now.

I started quarantining my new pickups. I don't want to lose all of them over a couple newbs.
