Ok, dont know where to put this..

well i walk outside (garage) and find theres a bunch of floating crap in my tank for no reason, well i get closer and hear my xp4 gurgling:nilly:
well i go behind the tank all worried that its broken or leaking..well i see that the water level is like 2" from the top, so im like WTF and turn off the filter and take a look in side and i find a flippen 2" feeder goldfish my armatus shanked and left for dead. So im like flipping out cause i think it will screw with my water and kill my armatus or whatever. So i decide to do a like 40% water change, after i get the xp4 running again, well i see freakin misquito larva swimming in my tank before and after i cleaned it:nilly::irked: . so what the heck should i do? I can't put like guppys to eat them or anything else, cause they will get eaten.. AHGGGGG:cry:

please help, thanks

well i had a pond with mosquito larve so i put in a betta. i guess there was too many mosquito larve so my betta died. it looked like the fins were bitten or something but i dont know. had that betta for 2 years but it was a small fish. just take out the mosquito larve with a net or something

Either get a power head witha filter sock on the output to catch them, or submerge eggcrate 3 inches from the surface and put in some gambusia ( http://www.nzfreshwater.org/thumbnails/gambusia.html ) to eat them as they surface.

Or you could wait a week and they will be looking for you :D.

 dont want that happening, so thanks Dr. Joe
will loo into that.:D

my armatus might eat thm though
:(

He would be below the eggcrate and the gambusia would be above it. Kind of like putting in a ceiling :D.

ooo, well how do i get feeders to him?
or just have it on like half the tank?

7x2x2 is alot of area to cover..

depending on the size of the armatus, he might not even bother the mosquitofish. Otherwise, us a fine pore net to scoop them out

where do you get the mosquitofish and can they be used as feeders. sounds like they reproduce quick.

In So Ca you can get the mosquito fish here free. Check your local listings to see if you have a mosquito abatement place that is funded by the gov. Our mosquito abatement place give you the mosquitofish for FREE!

There are a lot of fish that will eat mosquito larvae, cheap feeder gold fish, guppies and bettas are only a few. in fact most fish will eat live wiggly things in their tank- I do not think you have to worry about the mosquito lasting too long once your fish recognize they have food in their tank & have your filter going again.

Mosquito larvae only live in standing water they have to come up for air and if the water has too much of a current the larvae drowns.

so you could possibly kill the mosquito larvae by agitatiing the water.

Hope this helps
