For the past two weeks, I have a lot, about 10-12 fish die for no apparent reason. Nothing has changed in my routine. Water tests all come back normal, I even tested the tap water and it was normal as well. Today I had 5 fish dead, usually its only about one a day. Its seems to be all the small fish at the moment.

I have been catching some of my high dollar fish and putting the in the 265, so far nothing has died in the 265.

None of the fish have any visible signs of fungus, etc. or marks from other fish besides when they have been dead for a while. Tney all swim around, none are just laying on the bottom or hanging out at the top.

I went fishing today for 3 hours, I looked at the fish before I left and all were fine, I came back and my 13" Bala was dead, just like that.

When feeding the fish, I make sure they all eat from the top feeders to the middle to the bottom. The eat pellets, shrimp and algea waffers.

I was also thinking the were stressed but they arent doing anything that any other cichlid does which is chase other fish. There are so many in there they dont just keep messing with the same fish. And the ones that were doing this have been removed and that was about 3 weeks ago which they are now in the 265 and work out well.

Only thing I can think of is an internal parasite. So I just ordered Aquascape - EcoRx -Anti-Bacteria Medicated Fish Food - 12 oz, had it expedited.

You think it would be good to do a 100% water change and start all over or use this medicated fish food first? I was about to start over tomorrow after work, I have lost a lot of money the past few weeks. I didnt add any fish from this weekend either, they all went to the 265 and 125. I was also going to dip them while I changed the water out.

Thoughts? :(

I dont think I would ever do a 100% water change. Probably 75% at the most to keep SOME of the BB and slime coat in the tank. I am sorry to hear about your fish. I dont know what could be wrong, Ive never had this happen before.

I decided not to do any type of water change yet, I found some medicated fish food so I started with this first. I lost my Beani to bloat and now my convict has it but I caught him in time and he is in a 10 gallon quarantine with epsom salt, etc. All the fish are eating the pellets, the loachs love it because the pellets are small. Hopefully I can go tomorrow without a dead fish, I will see soon.

sorry to hear bro just don't let it happen to the hait pair !!!

They are in a different tank so they are good. No dead fish as of this morning :) Convict is still kicking, no other signs of bloat in other fish.

Do not do a 100pct water change. How along have you been feeding the food. As a very long shot maybe something could be in the food causing them to die. Did this start after a water change. Maybe a parasite was in the water.

They just started to eat the food yesterday, few them twice and once this morning so far. Time will tell I guess, I still anticipate a few more dead fish before the meds fully kick in but maybe I will get lucky and not lose anymore.
