:( :( :( :(

I just came home from school to find one of my 5" Bala sharks stuck in the filter

Atleast it wasn't my largest one but so sad!

size of tank? tankmates? parimeters?

jus trying to figure out if there is a reason for the death.

no, no reason for death I took off the filter cover thing, that makes it so fish can't get sucked in, but I thought my fish were all larger then the tube and when i put my hand under the filter tube that sucks the water it didn't suck too hard so I didn't think any of the fish would get sucked in, and I had it like this for over a week now, and I came home today to see one of my Bala sharks sucked in but I think the shark was trying to swim into it because his head was in and tail was out. >.< I put the filter cap back on it.

Usually if a fish that size gets pulled into the filter and dies, it's already weak from some kind of sickness. I'd keep an eye on the other fish for abnormal behavior/lack of appetite . . . . sorry about the loss . . .

I had a redtail shark try to swim through a hole in a plastic log that ended up being to small for 'em. Sure was glad that he was dead before the extraction from the hole cuz he didn't come out easy....

fish cant get sucked up filter pipes ? I've had baby fish jump out of filters I've had cory cats get sucked up filters balas usually do well n their hearty u have an ammonia spike or ph problem rule it all out

no, I don't think you get it, it's a large enough filter pipe, the fish must have been curious and it tried to swim up it, while it was swimming it got stuck and the body was crushed, into an L shape. The fish's eyes were missing, not if thats relevent or not.
