I'm sorry for your loss. It looks like you have an ammonia issue. How often do you change water?

No, no bug spray, flea powder or any other pesticides. Also ammonia wasn't the cause either, I change water once a week and have very strong filtration. It almost seemed like a bacterial or fungal infection, but not in all those diff tanks with no equip shared...

I wish I knew what it is, even tho I know it wasn't those two things in particular.

Can parasitical/fungal/bacterial infections/diseases transfer thru the air? Like by means of water evap? That's the only thing I can think of aside from the city water. But even then both ponds outside are safe with no disease. Then again water temp out there is about 34° right now, so maybe whatever it is couldn't live in those temps.?.

No I already have the tank, stand, sump etc, but haven't set it up. Wanted to get ALL materials together first. When did they go out of business? I called them like 2 months ago and talked to them about a bigger tank. Was it recently?

Yes, within the last month or so they went out of business for good.

Ya these stories scare the hell out of me too. I just lost my rarest and most expensive fish, one of my favorites, and my biggest is blind! Agh!!

As for what I fed them, what I always have, bloodworms, thawed frozen market shrimp, massivore delight, and spirulina wafers

It sounds like a city water issue - it happens from time to time - as long as you did keep on top of regular water changes.
