Ok so I woke up this morning and found my mandarin dead. I'm thinking it's the 2 6line wrasse, but I also have a flame angel, 2 yellow watchmen, algae blenny, Fu man chu, purple firefish. So who did it?

how big was it versus the sixes

No one killed it

It starved to death

most likely it starved to death since I'm assuming it was a newer tank with very little live rock and an insufficient amount of live zooplankton to keep the mandarin feed and alive.

How do y'all know this? Maybe it's in a huge, mature display with a gigantic sump and even an extra refugium. I'm not saying it is, and yes, most mandarins do starve in captivity. But nothing has been stated about system size, age, etc. Some mandarins are being captive-bred and are already eating other foods when you get them. There are a lot of things that could be going on here, and I just don't understand how this was gleaned from the little bit of information that was given. I'd rather ask a million questions than jump to conclusions -- it's the only way to give an educated response.

Second that.

What do you have for filtration? Do you have a Fuge? How much LR do you have? How long has the tank been running? They demand tons of copepods and a mature tank to have a chance to survive. Ether a well stocked refugem or a large tank with 'lot's of LR and copepods. They eat nearly 24/7.

It saddens me that people see mandarins and buy them because they are so beautiful, without knowing they eat more food than a hummer drinks gas. Not that I'm accusing you as such. It's just that this is usually the case.

im suprised the fu man chu hasnt eaten your other small fish.

i would remove the lion it will probably eat your firefish and sixlines.

i think it starved to death, unless its taking frozen food.
