I wanted to make this poll to see what you would do with your ]v[onster fish when it dies.
I know many of us become really attached to our fish and spend a lot of time and money on them. This is just me but, I believe its only right to get them mounted by a taxadermist. Imagine all the stories you could tell about every fish. I know it is a little extra expense but you could keep them forever. I could see some of you guys getting your TSN, RTC, Aro's, Oscars, RD's, Peacock Bass, Pacu, and many other monsters.:headbang2

Some of you dont have the heart to do something like this and would perfer to just bury them or do other options.
I want to hear what you plan on doing when this happens. Don't forget to vote!

I freeze my fish, I have a parakeet from when I was 5 in my freezer.

I'll pass on the icecream.

Most of my losses help grow my vegetables the next season. But, a select few go to the taxidermist. I recently had a 36" titanic panaque, 19" royal panaque, and 24" Megalodoras uranoscopus mounted. My taxidermist is giving me a break on the cost for letting him show them in trade competitions until the end of the year.

if the fish was really really prized id get it mounted but other than that they are food for my garden

I freeze my fish...
I do the same as Honda... you should see my freezer?!! :grinno: Don't worry Oddball, they're in different freezer seperated from the ice cream, burritos, hungry-mans, etc.!! ;)

Speaking of taxidermists, can a fish that has been frozen and preserved be capable of being done? How much does it normally cost for a job to be done on a fish? Just curious to know... thanks. :)

On average (so, don't hold me responsible for this) the cost of performing a warm-water species skin mount is $8.00 an inch. 2-sided skin mounts average $15.00 per inch of fish. That's just for the actual work on the fish. Additional charges accrue for driftwood mounting, encasing for display, adding life-like water effects, etc.
