twenty one goldfish flush, I mean salute.

I have one right now that made it four days past the Petco warrantee (a cobalt cichlid). It is just a little more than a head now. It should be ready to come out tonight. Fish food is fish food.

I am also a pack rat, so I also have a few cool fish in the freezer. I also have some sort of bird (don't remember), a 'possom skin, several rabbit skins, and an otter skin. I came close to picking up a dead owl on the side of the road one time. I use to mess around with taxidermy but I am not good enough to do a fish.

Depends on the fish, Arowanas, bichirs, plecos, knife fish and a few outhers yes. But all the outhers would just be burried in the backyard or fed to birds.

I wish there was a taxidermist in town, otherwise my prized e cat would be mounted were the cats can't get it. I put mine in the freezer until i can buiry them (crazy nebraska wheather), unless they are some tiny fish i don't care about like a neon or platy, then they are cat food. that how i got rid of my texas cichlid

I can do sufficient taxidermy for my basic needs, say small mammals and birds. For larger things, i talk to the museum taxidermist, and he gives me advice or help. For really big or really unusual things (a dead 12 foot python that used to be some class pet, or a dart frog), I have to give the guy some money, and we work on it together. Fish are tricky, but I am learning. I preserve most things. A lot end up in my 'dead' terrariums, where i can put together either a naturalistic setup that requires no feeding, or my dream (impossible) terrarium, with an etb, dart frogs, etc. all int he same one. Individual beauties either get their own glass case or get preserved in clear resin blocks.

I'll pass on the icecream.

Most of my losses help grow my vegetables the next season. But, a select few go to the taxidermist. I recently had a 36" titanic panaque, 19" royal panaque, and 24" Megalodoras uranoscopus mounted. My taxidermist is giving me a break on the cost for letting him show them in trade competitions until the end of the year.

Haha I don't freeze fish but I do have 16 large rats and 20 hopper mice in the freezer next to the hamburger and frozen pizza's. :D

In the past when I've had fish die they would be used to fertilize the garden. Now since I live in a apt. they would most likely just be thrown in the garbage. :(

Not to hijack, but quick poll, what makes a fish so special that you take it to the taxidermist?
