Yeah it looks wide open. My tank is a cichlid grow out so I am feeding often too. I don't overfeed (see nitrate reading above) but am trying to get growth just like you.

I was suprised I did not have enough circulation though with an FX5/powerhead... I think allot of people test the surface and be done with it. Most of us use the filters outlet to provide surface aggitation so of course the water will test 0 at the surface. Let's see if any pleco owners are willing to post REAL pics of the water quality where their plecos hide most the day though. I bet its not what they think it will read. Any honest takers???
Like i said it never entered my mind take measurments down from the surface!!!!It makes so much sense !! I will take readings in the morning and post them True readings:ROFL:Plec guys won't post true readings those things are pooping machines:nilly:

lol, seriously man do it ;) Put your thumb over the test tube, put it in the area you want to test and take a sample. Let us know what you find OK?

Not really needed bro, we know you you have good circulation. Let's wait and see if we can get any pleco or catfish owners to chime in. :) I used to keep L240 galaxias and wondered this back then too...

I've always tested at least 6 inches down if not more. I just didn't think taking water literally from the top was the MOST accurate way.

So i was just going to do the test this morning to bump the thread.I took one measurement on the left hand side of my tank were all the returns are about a couple inches down. The other on the far right hand side of the tank about 20 inches down in the most Dead area that i could find away from the intakes in front of a piece of drift wood.Sure enough the test again proved right!! the tube on the left again is top water the one on the right is 20 inches down on the far right of the tank,The tube on the left shows 0 Amonia the one on the right Shows .25!!!!And i do water changes every 4 days!!!!:WHOA:
