Thanks to this show, you know that King Crab are caught in October, all are frozen, and that restaurants are lying when they advertise "fresh king crab legs" in July.

Believe me, restaurants lie about lots all the time. So many restaurants claim to serve fresh maine lobster. I used to buy lobster off the docks in portland, maine and most of the lobster they serve here is not even cold water lobster. MAKES ME MAD!

My brother in law used to work at everyday music here in Portland, and he got me the first three seasons on DVD for Christmas. I had never seen it before, just a few commercials, and I thought, this should be really interesting for about 2 episodes, then how much more can there be to it than that. But I love it. I haven't seen much of season 4 yet, but I am watching season 5 now.
There is a guy here that I know who looks just like Sig. He has got to be related.

I wish I could see Sig and Edgar in Cash Cab. I like that show too. Since they are both on Discovery Channel, I don't think it was a coincidence.

I don't remember there being a lot, but there was at least some behind the scenes stuff on there. I can check when I get home.

I was a fan until about a year ago. There isn't much difference between crab fishing and pot cod. . The commercial fishing industry as a whole is considered one of the deadliest civilian jobs. I just got into port after a 3 month deployment on fishing boats on the Bering Sea and in the Gulf of Alaska.

Sorry, I missed this season so far and I have a week before I get home. Was the video from the Katmai which sunk on October 22th of last year? Have they said anything about Keith "Moose" Criner who was lost at sea on January 6, 2009 when his foot got tangled is the bouy line while fishing for Opilio?

no they haven't said that. what ship was moose from? as for the Katmai, they have shown some rescue footage of the 4 survivors

Moose was from the SEABROOKE. I met him when I spent a week on the SEABROOKE last fall while they were doing pot cod. I just finished a 3 month contract yesterday on a long liner fishing for Sablefish (Black Cod). If you search for Bering Sea you will find some of the posts that I have done in the past with pictures from some of the Vessels I have been on and some of the fish I have seen. The storm that the Katmai sunk in was really nasty, I was on a long liner in the northern part of the storm. I took the night off due to safety issues with me being on the weather deck and was in the galley doing paperwork when the mate came down and told us about the Katmai sinking. I think the mate was interested more in knowing if there were any fellow observers aboard the Katmai at the time.
