DEADLY skinny flower ray VIDEO.. HELP if u can...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A friend had a ray that wouldn't eat either. I took a bunch of rosy minnows, pinched their backs (yes, cruel), and added them to the tank. They were still mobile, but slow enough for even the most lackadaisical of rays to catch.

Also...all those zullies swimming over head may be stressing out the ray. Got a spare tank to put one or the other?

I am also curious to know if you tried Prazi yet as well? In my experiences, if they taste but don't eat, its because they don't like the food. I know it sounds weird but I currently have a wild caught hystrix that does this all the time with shrimp but he just won't eat it. He will however eat nightcrawlers and blackworms. This is interesting. I would keep some blackworms in there with him, keep it worm and dark, etc....it really seems like you're doing everything you can-all the right things in my estimation. The best of luck Michael. I hope it works out for you.

My otorongo did not eat for more than 16 days after I got her and she was twice as skinny as yours. I did double dose of metro with a 50% water change for 5 days in a 20 gallon tub with the heat at 85 and in complete darkness no sand too. I put her back in the main tank divided her from the others and put towels around her so she could not see me. Like a day later she started to eat and now is putting the weight on.

thanks for all the kind words guys and I am still praying for him but it seems he has started eating little bits at a time and the cave in the head looks better and is almost gone. Not in the clear yet but he is looking better. Thanks everyone who cared and helped through this so far :) :)

Very glad to hear that things were better. I hope that the ray is still doing well! So sorry that this was happening; keep us updated, and we're rooting for him. :)

A little update and I will get some pics during feeding tonight. Ray has filled in the cave in head and almost all of its hipbones are filled in and tail is getting fat. Looks like he should be ok. Have 5 more lbs of blackworms arriving today
