Dealing with a craigslist idiot.

Personally I think $300 is WAAY over the top for a 90 gallon. Not only that it's probably custom made and has thin glass since it's cube. As well as the height isn't too much of a good idea. But IMO you should've asked more about the tank then explained your reasoning. Still a little ridiculous how he shut out a potential buyer. But I gues he didn't care to negotiate that much. Personally I bought a 7" Cichla kelberi from Davenmandy for $100 after he decided to lower it from $150. He spent around $200 for it at 3" with shipping etc. You put it at a higher price and narrow down your offers from other potential buyers and wait a little to see the best offer. Anywho getting a little off topic how much did you sell the freshwater moray for listed at $250 davenmandy?

For a regular 90 gal I agree, $300 is too much, however a 90 cube, if you are in the market for one, $300 with most of the supplies isn't a bad price. Marineland makes a 93 gal cube, with tank and stand it goes for about $600 new. There are a few manufacturers making standard cubes now, they've become very popular with reefers. While they are not custom, they are more expensive than your regular rectangular tanks. Personally, I wanted the cube, open top look for my planted tank, so I picked one up. If I had found a used one for $300 I would have been all over it. On the other hand, most people on this site would rather have a regular shaped 90, in that case $200-$250 is much more reasonable.

The price for large tanks like 180s and 220s generally only resell for about 1$ per gallon unless they have absolutely great condition equipment included. The cubes may he pricey to buy but all tanks drop substantially once used. I would say $150 would be more what it's worth unless it's fairly new

Used glass tanks tend to sell for $1/gal, plus any accessories, which is reasonable. For the majority of used tanks I wouldn't pay anything more than that. But when a regular 90 sells for $200 new and a 90 cube sells for $400 new it would be foolish to expect the cube to sell for the same price used. The vast majority of people on this site are not the consumers of cube tanks so it is not unreasonable for most to expect to pay the same price. But if you actually look into it you will see most that are into the cube look are willing to spend a little more for a cube, even if used. That said, CL is not the place to get that extra money that guy wants.

A 90 doesn't fetch $1 per gallon where I am. See them for $50 $60 often enough.

Hence why I said the cube would be worth 150.

$200 - $60
$400 - $150

Ratio seems pretty on point lol

not everyone lives in Ontario, LukeO

that cube tank may sell for $300 where ts is at, but it won't sell for that in socal. geography can dictate the price

wait, are you in Ontario, Canada? or California?

I wish that were the case around here. More often than not I see 10 gal tanks being listed as huge and a bargain at the low low price of $250. Deals pop up every so often, but a lot of the tanks around here seem to be beat to crap and way overpriced.

I know this. tanks are usually a lot cheaper in the states unless you live in the middle of nowhere. At least that's the impression I get from the classifieds

whether the orginial price was high or not, you can't be shocked someone on craigslist is acting like that. he'll end up selling it to someone for $200, but not you haha.

people try selling 20 gallon tanks for 50-100 bucks. old ass 55 gallons for 2-3 hundred cause it comes with a stand. etc etc etc. some people know that they are over pricing their stuff, some people think that's what it's worth cause they see it for that much on craigslist. that guy doesn't know what his stuffs worth yet.
