Dealing with fry

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree with others here. At the moment I have a W/C pair of Laguna Dolores Zonatum with fry, they are an established pair. When the fry were free swimming I pulled some to a separate tank to grow on. They are fed twice daily with frozen baby brine shrimp, with a 20% water change every 2 days. The rest are left with the parents. Apart from the Hakari pellets I feed the parents the tank does not receive any other food. The parents will fan the substrate and the fry feed off the detris stirred up, plus off the sponge filters. I have to say the fry in the tank are doing every bit as well as the fry in the separate tank.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am going to try not feeding them and let te parents do their job at least until they get some good size on them. And I am going to do 5 gallon water changes every other day. That should help keep nitrates down. The parents are currently taking the fry for a stroll around the tank. Very cool to see the pair surrounded by fry.
