Cichlids breed by the hundreds. Big ones like Umbees and Doviis, Haits, or any other larger ones. They multiply by hundreds and different multiple breeders, but where are they when time go and they grow? uh oh. Yo I just clicked into a flow but in the mean time who think they know? Where them cichlids go? uh

:confused::screwy::ROFL::ROFL: watever

I think you are asking were all of the fry end up that are sold?

It's simple. Something rare or new comes out and people go crazy and everyone buys fry. These same people quickly become tired of waiting for there little 1" fry to turn into the stunning adults that they have seen pictured and they end up neglected and dead. I know people that order a new group of fry all of the time. They dump them in a growout tank with a 100 other things and end up with 1 or none of them in the end. Not that it matters. They have already grown tired of them and are off to find the next craze.

As far as hobbiest breeding fish, most of those fry end up as feeders. If you can sell 50 out of a batch you are doing good. Plus once they get much over 1" it gets hard to house a large batch and they start to kill each other off.

cichlids are easy to breed...
a challange to raise ...
and very difficult to sell for profit.

breeding requires water...
raising requires time, effort, and attention to detail...
selling requires actual customers who are willing to give you money

----and to make things more difficult "customers" tend to expect lots of service, a bargain basement price, and a refund when they kill the fish.

so... to answer the original question, all those fry end up in crowded 10 gallon tanks untill the breeder gets tired of them not growing, gives up his dream of becoming a profesional breeder, and feeds the fry off to other fish.
