Everyone should check out Quo Vadis if you've never heard of them - I could go on and on about this genre.

Saw Suffocation and Dying Fetus live a few months ago with Necrophagist, Origin and a bunch of other bands.
I listed a bunch of stuff that isn't DEATH metal just because I like metal in general. As long as it doesn't have core in the description I'm ok with it. Who likes death metal but not black/thrash/folk/power? Closeminded people thats who lol.

If you want to get SUPER technical....Death is more thrash metal these days.

if you want to get into it -going back to the early eighties "death Metal" was defined by the lyrical content and we had sub generas of "thrash" that included :

hate metal
war metal
metal core
speed metal
speed core
death core
cross over
black metal

the florida death scene was several years later.
and all those black metal bands you like started to emerge mid eighties onwards.
i didnt know there was still a death what with the death of chuck ?
i was realy refering to the early albums (same with obituary).
if you are interested in where all your black metal bands got inspiration check out the first 4 bathory albums and if you want to go even further the first 4 venom albums as they were pretty much the first full -on black/thrash/death band.

You're right, a lot of people don't listen to straight up death metal and if they do, its only a portion of what they enjoy, especially with all the subgenres out there.

if someone posted asking about tsn you wouldnt expect answers about pim pictus.
