Unlucky mate, must be upsetting for you.

I am currently making my own lid out of thick wood, I can't see the Juwel floppy plastic lid stopping a determined monster from jumping out.

There are aquarium straps available that attach to the rim of your tank at the front and rear, securing the lid down well. Very cheap, and much better than stacking rocks on your tank.

Sorry for your lose. I understand how you feel samething happened to me with my 12" Jag. its a good thing I keep him in my bedroom. pick up those straps dude they work good with my tank or build one heavy enough to hold them in.

That sucks that your oscar died. Being a BIG oscar fan myself it sucks to lose a fish that you can get so attach too. If your JD is sad go out and get another oscar at your LFS. I allways see unwanted oscars here.

Sorry for your loss.. thats sucks! the same thing happen to me 2 days ago.. my wife woke me up around midnight saying that she hears something in the Living room and thinks someone broke in.. so I got up like a maniac and grabed my 32oz Louieville (crack your head) Slugger Bat and ran to the living just to see my 6" Synodontis catfish in the middle of my living room with my 8 yr old tabby rehearsing a scene from Crouching Dragon Hidden Dragon!!!! Lucky, and I threw it in my tank and secured the back.. but yea I haven't always been lucky!!!
