My second ray is curling at the back of her disc! She was so healthy before, and very few things have changed about her environment since then.

1. Changed RO water to sediment filter + carbon-stop, still aging water 24 hrs
2. Treated tank with FlukeTabs, followed by PraziPro (Recommended dosage always strictly followed)
3. Added salt and turned temperature up to 86F.
4. Increased water changes to 22% once a day when first ray was showing signs, occasionally twice a day when both looked stressed.

I haven't done anything else differently. The water parameters are perfect... I don't understand!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated,
-Ashley & Matt

Fluke tabs are no good for rays do major water change and get it out fast or there DEAD. Dude who told you to use fluke tabs that is a major problem it might already be to late get your rays into another tank NOW.

massive water changes is you only hope! How big is this tank? Rays pump out massive quantities of ammonia, and they need a very large system to handle it.

The lifting of the back - and front disc, is a common sign of stress.

And your rays are newley imported. All my rays have done so at some point. And they are still alive. ;)

Also, i dont understand why you start by pumping them with medicine. Give them a chance to eat and gain weight, before you medicate.

I am glad to hear that your rays have done well after curling! That is awesome! :grinno:

I was just trying to remove any parasites, so that we could fatten them up. I noticed he looked thin, and was trying to get rid of any worms. :irked:

Thanks for the input; I'm going to be much more careful with medicine in the future.

Update: Both rays are being more active, searching for food etc. This change occurred after four successive 30 gallon water changes (I would have done more, but my bin only holds 32). I will do one or two more water changes in the morning, and drop an update.

I'm very tired. It is 2:40 am here, and we need some sleep! Thanks everyone for your input! Good night.

ive done up to a 8x tank dose with prazi and been fine... do some major water changes and why are you aging the water???? add some prime and just put it in the tank....

Are you using straight RO water or are you mixing it with tap water? Straight RO water is not good for fish unless you mix it or add something along the lines of black water extract.

Its not curling. ;)

Some rays lift their snouts when they are stressed, som the "back-fins".

Its just a normal sign of stress. Its nothing to be scared of. :)

You will see it all the time if you import rays. ;)
