before i left for work this morning i noticed my female dovii had broke down the divider and was beating on the male again. i blame this on myself for not makeing a proper divider. i didnt not have time to fix the divider so i scooped out the female and dropped her in my 30g con tank. i am pretty sure she can fight off the cons (they have fry) until i get home tonight.

the delima i am left with is to keep the dovii pair together or sale the female. i really dont wanna get rid of the male or lose him to the females aggression becaues it took me forever to find a male. then again i have had the female since last september. and i do have a batch of fry from them that i could try to get another pair out of.

so do i sale the female and keep the male by himself and let him get big and mean.

or do i keep them seperated and try to breed them every once in a while?

or the last resort.....try to sell to someone with a big enough tank to keep this pair in together. all i have is 75 and even though they are still kinda small, it just isnt enough. and i dont have the funds to get a larger tank for a few more months, maybe not until next summer!!:(

Sell. You don't have adequate housing for one of those fish let alone two. I'm not trying to call you out or anything but from what I've witnessed is its so easy to say "I'll get the fish now and buy proper housing in a few months". A few months a lot of times turns into 6 months, years or even never because of other financial responsibilities. I've done it myself so I can't talk. If I were you, and I have no idea what you've kept in the past, I would sell and buy a nice jag from Rapps.

yeah i know the 75 isnt big enough. id say the male could stay in there 6-8 more months by itself. then itd be i had hoped to get a 125-180 in a couple months but got some stuff come up that requires the money. im going to talk it over with my wife and see what she wants too do also. i am trading "big train" some dovii fry for GT fry. so i can go that route in there.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You should try again later when you get a bigger tank until then i would sell both the fish and try again later

I know selling a fish you're attached to always sucks but it may be your best option. Maybe you should consider a smaller guapote like a pair of Red Tiger Motaguense or something until you have funds for a monster tank.

well my wife wants me to just have the 75g setup and get rid of all the others, or atleast break them down until we buy our own house. (renting one now)

what i have is
75g- dovii pair
30g- con pair, ablino senegalus, asian algae eater
20l- 4 clown loaches
20l- dovii fry grow out

so if i sell the dovii pair and consolidate the rest, i still have a decent assortment. plus i am trading some fry for some GT fry that can be added in when they get a bit bigger. maybe add a parrot and sevs later on too. who knows.

It sux but probably the best thing for the fish is to sell or trade them until you can get a better home for them.
