ok, how long could i possible keep this male in the tank? he is 4 inches now?

Not long. Dovii grow quickly when kept properly and are open water predators that require alot of swimming space. While the 18 inch width is good, the length of a 75 is too short and would probably start to become an issue in less then a year due to swimming space. Its good that your putting them up for sale. If its possible, sell to somebody who already has the proper tank set up for a dovii pair. When it comes time to get a Dovii in the future again, a 72x24x24 inch tank is as small as I'd go for a single male.

i would. make an egg crate divider, although others say 75 is not big enough, you can make do with it until the 180-240 comes along.

the idea is, when we get our own house we want to build a huge monster tank into a wall in the hosue. wife's brother in law is a construction guy and we have talked this over with him for a year or so going over ideas. we wanted to buy a house in the spring but i am in the military and dont know if i have to transfer yet so everything has been put on hold. but yeah ultimate plan is to get as big a tank as we can handle and house a dovii pair in it. a guy i work with built an 8x2x2ft tank into his dining room wall a few years ago and we are using some of his blue prints for reference.

i thought abotu this too, and i have even seen a much larger breeding pair in a 75g. i believe this is a 75 in this video

but also this tank is the center piece of my living room and a bare tank with an egg crate divder woulndt look that good. i am shooting for something more along the looks of "chiclid addict" tank.

ive got a guy interested in the pair a few hours from me. i am more than likely going to sell to him and wait until i get a monster tank for my next pair of dovii.
