Debate whether Ornatums are really C. Gephyrum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, i remember Mel O talking briefly about this in his last video tour.

What i'd like to bring to the table, is that the Rio San Juan may also be an actual ornatum, and not a relative or hybrid. It could simply be a variant, discovered in a different area than what was previously described as its habitat.

have 2 orntaus that i bought from rapps at around 4inchs. they have def grow they are around 5-6inchs now. they both really similar im having a hard time telling the difference between the male and female. i had both in my 150 with my female festae but she beat one of them up really bad so i had to put it in my 75 and take my parachromis freddy out of the 75 and put her in the 150 with the festae and other ornatus. the freddy is the biggest out of all my fish currently. my question is at a smaller size what is a good way to distinguish the male and female ornatus?

Mo, do you have any Ornatum yet?

If so, WE...MUST...HAVE...AQUAMOJO...PICS!!!!

Nope. I had an opportunity tomget some at the convention and passed. I shy away from SA cichlids. Hard water in PA. They like it a little softer.
