i was watching videos on youtube and this channel called expert village was talking about snake care. they said that you have to use bottled water or treat tap water before giving it to your snake. is this true?

also they said that you should give it distilled water to drink, and i know that's complete bs.

To be honest, I don't dechlor my misting water (I know I should) but I think distilled would be a terrible idea since it's completely devoid of any trace minerals/nutrients.

my bro never declorinates any of his snakes water and its about 2 years old and about 5 and half feet long and doing fine

so, is it good, bad, or what? i want some more opinions so i'm prepared when i get my corn snake

Okay, my opinion is yes you should, but it is so much work. No one, no pets or humans should have any of the water put into them or onto their skin. Fluoride is a horrible, horrible poison that the gov't pushes because if they didn't, too many people would sue them and win, look it up, there is a ton of info out there that is kept from stupid people like us, plus, there are so many other additives in water systems out there now, nature; animals/fish were never meant to have any of it. Dogs in labs were given fluoride and got lung cancer, so who knows what could happen to your snake. Then again, I hate the work. Look up Korgan (for fish) products and they will even tell you about fluoride and the effects it may have on fish. In some people - the water in their cities gives them severe allergic reactions to where they have to invest in RO just so they can be healthy. Good luck with snake. And chlorine is dangerous - I used to get sick all the time when I swam in pools - like my lungs were burning. Snake skin is delicate.

so i need to buy bottled water every time i want to change its water? that would suck, that's expensive in the long run

I use dechlorinator for my snakes but make it in like 15-20 gallons at a time to use it for all of my animals. You could just use your dechlorinator for fish and get like a 2 gallong jug and you wouldn't need to make it near as much or if you know your water doesnt have a ny chloramines in it then you could just let the chlorine evaporate out over 24 hrs and not do anything with it.

so im liking both camshaft ramrod and logo's ideas.

but is it safe to use fish dechlorinator for snakes?
