Yeah, been a bit unfortunate in recent times. When I moved house last year, I brought my clown pleco with me that i'd had for a couple of years; real character, ended up getting killed by my synodontis eupterus. That was a difficult one, ended up replacing him with the bulldog/rubbernose type, who immediately ended up getting whitespot.
Once successfully treated, he was very shy; I kind of got the impression from the smooth forehead angle and general shape that he would be more at home in strong flow set-ups; in any case his presence was kind of sporadic in my aquarium, that has moderate flow etc, corner aquarium too, so not really a river type set-up at all.
Hopefully the gold nugget is more suited now, looking for an eye-catching pleco that will occasionally make an appearance in my tank, and generally feel comfortable. Plenty of driftwood and lots of plants to graze in between feeding...I'll do a bit more research as well I think, see if i can add anything to make it more suitable for the dude
Does it apply only to Prime and Safe, not sodium thiosulfate. My tap water is chlorinated only. I would say I overdose several times over the necessary dosage each time I do fin level WC as my tap water is nearly void of chlorine by the time it comes off the tap. I have never observed oxygen depletion as the cascading water will only aerate to oxygen saturation point.
I think it would depend on how much your over dosing and how much Chloramine is in your tap. In theory you may not be over dosing at atll. I do fin leve wc as well and i notice when i dose with safe before refilling a little my fish do gasp or breath quickly. I know that i am slightly over dosing though
