Nice lookin male that's how my male is right now. I have him separated in a 29 to give the female a break and now he just hates the world it's hilarious.

Anyway with the big male midas separated for now the cubans are finally getting the opportunity to court eachother and it looks like they are about to spawn. My male cuban is even trying his hardest to punk out the larger female midas.
wow I can see why you had a hard choice choosing those midas are beautiful! but I will admit with you that the cubans are much better looking fish, Its down to preference really, I've never seen a cuban before, but I've seen and owned Midas's in the past. Thanks for posting the pics i hope we get more updates on how they are doing in the future

Thanks it was a VERY hard decision. I actually found myself looking around for an 180g aquariums but I don't have the space or money right now for a new system. The female midas is currently with the cubans as well as 5 silver dolars(one jumped the tank last night
). The male is in a separate 29 for the moment.I didn't resist calling him castro but I did resist calling him ***hole
Sorry to hear about losing the silver dollars, we all have to make these hard decisions in fishkeeping but its how we evolve as people

Getting rid of that Midas pair would be foolish at this point if you ask me. They are an outstanding pair. The cubans are average looking IMO.
Are you joking? They've got crazy color and they're only like 4". Wait until they get big like their parents...
Glad you like the pair but I feel I made the right decision. After looking around and seeing the size these guys can get I just wouldn't feel comfortable keeping them in this size tank. I think this tank is much better suited for cubans than midas. I personally like the look of both pairs but everyone has their opinions. The cubans also are still very small. They will look much better when they get larger.
