hey guys, i decided to make my first fish a BGK. they look like awesome fish full of energy and personality. it's going to be a little bit before i actually get him though, i have to prepare my sand and driftwood first. i had a couple questions about them:

1) i read somewhere that they're fragile at small sizes, about what size do they grow out of this fragile state?

2) what height do they grow to? i have a driftwood log that's cut in half that i was going to hollow out for a cave, just want to make sure it would be an ok size.

3) are they known jumpers? (i.e. do i need a secure lid/cover up open spots in the top?)

4) How often do you do water changes?

Thanks for any answers you guys can give!

not sure about the size or jumper question but just make sure you do your weekly water changes and should be ok also BGK get very large, i think they get up to like 20in as far as i know so they will need a decent size tank, and about the log if its big enough for him to go in and out of and feel secure then the size is fine but will have to get bigger caves for him as he grows GOOD LUCK

they get 20 inch in the wild, in home aquaria they get to 15 inches. Feed every other day, 2-3 times each day. I hand fed mine flakes but chose whatfoods they like. I was lucky mine ate flakes.

They stay delicate their entire lives. Be sure your tank is cycled BEFORE you put the BGK in there. It might not survive a cycling tank.

How big a tank are you planning? These guys require a HUGE tanks.
