Your fire eel is so little!

I've read about it being hard to feed the fire eels, but looks like it's not for yours...? They are so cool.

This is my 5th spiney eel I've had 2 peacock eels, a tire track eel and another fire eel that was acting funny in the bag and only lasted 1.5 hours. This fire eel is by far the most personable eel I've had and already my favorite.

I've had the fire eel for 5 days now and this is the 2nd time I've actually seen him eat. I was trying a new food along with the blood worms, it's the green cube behind the albino. It was a free sample from one of my LFS, they call it pro formula . I'm not sure what is in it however when I put it in the tank all my fish came running even the prawns. It was really strange how they all reacted so quickly. The 1st one to the cube was a prawn who tried to run off with the entire thing till the bichir took it from him lol

I've been wanting to add a fire eel to one of my tanks (possibly with polys) I've just read over and over again that they're hard to get to start eating, and since most of my fish are big eaters I think it would make it even harder. Doesn't seem like you're having too much trouble though

I had a little trouble getting my tire track eel to eat at 1st mainly because he was always hiding at feeding time and I figured I might have a similar problem with this fire eel so whenever I see him hanging out I stop the filters and put a cube in the water where it will fall directly in front of him and on the second time he ate. I also keep the tank stocked with guppies and what were supposed to be ghost shrimp but ended up being giant river prawns :( so that him and the bichir can eat whenever the want too

Is that list of what they have stocked in their tanks or what they can bring in? (Fish gallery)

I talked to Chris one of the head guys over there he said he will send me the list of all the bichirs e can get along with the knifefish :) and I will post them for you guys. He also said that the person they get the bichirs and knifefish is real anal about proper identification

Request for snaps of the ansorgii and Guinea lapradei.

and as an added bonus a large Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri they had

I've never heard of a giant river prawn!

Well here in the Dallas area a lot of times they will substitute ghost shrimp with giant river prawn babies because there is a very large breeder nearby now that's not a problem if your fish eat them quickly however if they don't it can be a BIG problem because they get huge. My 1st bichir was killed by one because I was stupid and saw an young adult prawn in the LFS and thought it was cool well I put him in the tank and the next morning I found my beloved bichir beheaded which he was the entire reason I got a second tank here is a sizing chart for them from the breeder I mentioned

Looks like they get their bichirs from Toyin!
