would a dwarf puffer be OK in a 5 gallon tank? I think they are a little sensitive. I voted betta but I would suggest crystal red shrimp, some livebeares, or keep the cardinals.

What about a couple of peaceful bettas? [sci. name betta imbellis] if you don't overfeed you won't need filtration.
i just saw some yesterday at the fish store... I wanna give them a try soon... hehehe

polarbear, I think that you have an impaired judgement. I keep 16 bettas, and all of them have learnt to jump out of the water for food, recognise me, and have personal preferences when mating. These personality traits MAY depend on your fish, and whether they are provided with proper husbandry...please don't have such an assumption...I'm just saying...
