I'll take another tomorrow to show you how fast it clears

Last thread crash! I sent RD. RD. a message re: turtles with Rid-X, and he linked me to a product by exo-terra that does the same thing as evidence that it would be fine. I mean logically I was pretty sure it would work, considering people use these types of probiotics in ponds, and you know, turtles like living in those, but it was good to get some confirmation!

I would have done the same. So the exo-terra stuff is basically ridx with a fancy label ?

Crypts aren't what I think of as carpet - they are just lower growing bushier things typically.

I've never planted the water lettuce. Interesting!

magpie magpie My bad... Meant Water Sprite, not lettuce. Got my plants mixed up. It's been a while.

thread crashes are fine by me. Technically, it was still on topic :p

Are your phosphates high out of the tap? Do you have any problems with algae currently?

The plants we're recommending are pretty low maintenance. I'd just try them and see how it goes personally. :)

Yep, the phosphates are high out of the tap. :/ Algae isn't really a problem, but it does develop a thin brown layer if I don't clean it off with my weekly water changes.

Thats the fun thing about planted tanks. You can pretty much select any plant type and let your creativity flow. Most of these were from percolating, pets mart and some from craigslist. My fave because it's the easiest is the dwarf lettuce. You can let them float or in the substrate. Here's a 75g I had that was easy to maintain.

nice tank! What is the yellow/orange plant that looks like kinda like an arching vine?
