decreased surface area = rays breathing hard!

no it is not. the bubbles do not put oxygen in the water, the disturbance on the surface is what creates the gas exchange. So mine was filled so full there was not surface disturbance.

My tanks are never cloudy and are always crystal clear. This tanks was kinda cloudy and everything was breathing hard. Once i lowered the water everything was GREAT

I was going to say try to put a air line in the FX5 but that was not the issue (here is some pics of my FX5 with a air line). Also I dont have it that low anymore... its towards the top of the tank now

Not to derail but to give an idea for more oxygen in the water I guess.
