Dedication to fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok bad pics but here are my 4 new pickups. Okay, first fish is Paratilapia Polleni, he is very small, about an inch. The second is a TSN about 3 inches, my first TSN. The third fish is a RTC, also about 3 inches, I miss my old one, back when I was younger and didnt understand much about them or caring for them. And last but certainly not least is a strawberry peacock, this lil guy caught my eye and I couldnt pass him up.

If anyone has any other suggestions of other LFS in Pittsburgh or between Pitt and Erie I would gladly check them out. Thanks

I don't think there are too many. At least between Meadville and Erie. I know of only one in Meadville (and the choices of fish are minimal). I am working on changing that.....it is still in the set up stages, but hopefully soon there will be a LFS in Linesville.

Pitt seems to be high on prices. imo I'm not sure where they get their fish from. The store in meadville used to be good, one I liked fish bowl I think is closed. I didn't care for the other one, buzzes or robs are way better man. Cleveland is good for getting fish on the cheap, if you sign up for RMS or John's aquarium online news letter you get coupons all the time. Somethingfishy is out there too. Buffalo is better for the harder to find species, ones that either get huge or would cost over $30 normally. Some cool stuff in the $30-$100+ range. That is about all I know outside of erie. There are a couple fish shops similar to buzzes in new york under an hour. One over by dunkirk that gets some nice stuff in, one over by lakewood. Buffalo is the best city I think for fish stores, Ive been to cinci, pitt, cleveland, akron, erie. Just visiting friends and googled what was in the area and checked out what was there. The stores in buffalo are rather far..north of buffalo up by niagara falls but pretty awesome.
Not worth the gas imo, so I usually see what rob has on the list, or just order online. I do like to go to buffalo once a year just to see the fish like the tarpon ariapima and tiger fish tigs and lacerade. Pretty impressive stores and stock.

Oyea. They are in presque isle bay, I've never fished for them. Sometimes you can see them hanging out around the bait stand near the public dock. I don't think you can fish there though. Some of the old timers don't like the gar up here because they think they are competition with them for their yellow perch.
If you want bowfin though union city dam or lake lebouf are very good spots.
GOOD LUCK!

yeah there is alot of misconception about gar. gar actually help the game fish population.
i hope to head up there in a few months!!

I just havent gotten into the local native fish. Thats y I dont have them. I volunteer at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center helping out with the fish stock tanks and the turtle tanks so i am getting my start into natives.
