I will always remember him sitting on his bet at the Hospital flexing his guns telling me and Mike "I'm in the shape of his life ready to fight this disease." I'm so glad I made it that night! I knew he was walking out of Kaiser based on his attitude for life... Little did I know that that would be our last conversation.
(still don't believe what happened, his energy that day would convince any disease that day that he's here to stay).
 
Very sad to see this.. Joey was a insperaton to me in the cichla world and will always be to me. Thanks for all the insperation and motivation over the years my friend. RIP
 
It's truly amazing and inspiring how this thread turned from mourning R1's death to a celebration of R1's life. I wish I knew him better, he seems like he was a great human being.
