deformed turtle?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It has severe pyramiding. Cause by improper diet, humidity levels, lack of supplementation, over feeding etc. Still has a chance to live a long healthy live if given proper care though. I've seen worse cases before.

I just read the ad. The fact that they are eating pellets is a red flag. No pelleted diet is good for a tortoise. The price is also through the roof!

Yeah too much protien. All turtles need some, especially when they're young, but older turtles eat much more vegetation, and adult tortoises are almost vegetarian.

And the tortoise/turtle debate: they're all turtles, so don't get your panties in a bunch about it.

I would never recommend a pelleted diet for any type of herp let alone tortoises. The pellets are most likely what caused the pyramiding. Check out the kingsnake.com tortoise forums and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also, read the ingredients on most pellets. They're horrible. I would just to stick to a natural diet. It's worked fine for me for the past 10 years.
