Wish I could post pics too show exactly what I mean but some stupid privacy setting won't let me. My delhezi external gills were non existent when I bought him and than bam after a few days it damn near looked like a lions mane. Than I added a kenyi cichlid( which is gone now) and another delhezi which I think is a female. Now the external gills are only showing alittle. I had tea somewhere that some cichlids will rip these off of bichirs sometimes an the kenyi was a an asdhole.

the reason it won't let you post pics cause you don't have 5 posts. Once you get 5 posts it should let you. Make sure the dels are ok though. If they can function/eat and swim they are fine. Just watch them and make sure they don't start getting weird or any thing.

Do responses count as posts? Or I have too start 5 threads like this one? My 1st bichir is fine he swims and eats like a pig and everything. The 2nd still explores and eats alittle but not as much as the 1st granted I've only had her for about 4 days. Glad I found MFK I was useing aquaria advice but wasn't getting much help with what I have.

It's totally normal for them to not eat much at first. Some polys don't eat for a couple weeks when put into a new environment. So knowing that they both are eating is good. The only thing i would watch for is their breathing. I'm pretty sure if the kenyi did bite the external lungs off the polys would be acting abnormally. But make sure you have an aerator in the tank just for a little extra oxygen. But chances are if they are still alive they're gonna be fine

on the post it's just posts not threads if you look at you're profile to the left it says post count you currently have 2. I think 5 is when you can upload pictures not sure.

Dr. B i appreciate your help immensely. by aerator do you mean the bubble machine? if so than oh ya i have alot of that goin on. definitly will be posting pics as soon as i hit the 5. hes acting perfectly normal it just concerned me because like i said it was almost like a lions mane now its nowhere near what it was. talking about breathing reminds me of another concern i have. i catxch him swimming too the top and grabbing a gulp of air and going back down and slowly letting bubbles out and sometimes also i see them open there mouths real big when theyre breathing.

i would have never gotten help this fast or really ANY help at all on my bichirs on the other forum, but this one has whole sections devoted
