Centapoma are great looking fish and are the best tank mates with bichirs. Pluse youll be sticking in the amazon biotope.

Think you might have meant "african biotope" as there both are from africa. But totally agree with you, they make great tank mates.

My fish shop is well stocked so I am taking notes to look around next time I go!
I only have a 55gal right now, but after I sell my condo I am planning on upgrading to a very large tank, something like 750gal

I really like bichirs they are probably some of the coolest fish I have ever had, and I would LOVE an arowana, but I dont want to put a fish like that in a 55gal, and I cant find any small ones here, all the ones I have seen for sale are like 24inches or something. Same thing with the knife fish, they grow fast or are already big.. they are very cool looking though, how big do those small black knife fish get?

I could get one of those for right now if they are growing machines

African brown knife fish like the one in my avatar are supposed to reach 12 inches but I've yet to see one that big, they usually top out around ten. Only one per tank though, unless you've 75 gallons per knife. They are extremely territorial with their own kind as adults.

Yah, I didn't know that 2 years ago and got like 6 of them juveniles. They were swimming happily until about 1 month later, 4 were dead when I came home and the last 2 were having a death match.

Oooh see I was thinking of the clown knife not the brown knife, because I was about to say, I have seen one so huge it was almost as long as my tank lol

I would probably only get one, if I can find it out here. I love the way they look and how they swim, I could stare at them all day!

Also I heard the Centapoma only eat live food? Or will they ear pellets and shrimp or something?

Depends on the indvidual fish, mine eats anything - dry food is actually one of his favourites, probably because he doesn't have to hunt it! Its harder to make sure most of my other fish get their share rather him getting a lack of food.

Your Pleco may not be bothered not, but rest assured it WILL eventually go for the Delhezi's slime coat.
Once it has a taste for it, it will lust for slime more and more until the Delhezi is no more.

Plecos + Bichirs is a no no.

IDK. I have been keeping an eye on the pleco, he shows no interest in her at all. I even traded my mean ass old one for this new one.

I am just going to watch and see..

I kind of want to get rid of it anyway because I dont like the amount of pooping he does.
Any ideas on what else I could use to eat excess food in between vacuuming?

I just don't trust plecos. Unless you cage it up at night and only release it during viewing period
