Other then being happy a fat poly could bloat more easily, and a bunch of other stuff I'm too tired to go to full length in right now lol. My one teugelsi from Rapps had a little pellet or something in his throat when I got him causing a similar looking situation, I kept the water real real clean and fed only easy foods to eat (bloodworm etc) and it dissolved. Just make sure your not building up on it with more hard stuff as a precaution. Even soaking the pellet thoroughly before feeding may help too. This is actually why I refuse to feed mealworms super worms etc to smaller bichir if the carapace gets caught in the throat not much you can do and my buddy learned that the hard way with a Senegal
