what is de-shell prawn and platy? never heard of these down here, hey what about baby crawfish?

de-shelled prawn is the shrimp/prawn you buy at the super market. you take off the shell and chop it up to bite size pieces for your bichir. platy is a livebearer fish very common in community aquariums.

Thnx bro, you did a very good explanation. :grinyes:

Crawfish = crayfish?
If yes, still needa de-shell....so it will be down to prawn vs crawfish in term of price.

cheers,

down here they both are very cheap and yes it is crayfish but we say crawdads or mudbugs instead :headbang2

so just feed them the meat not the whole thing huh, bichirs can't digest shells or something?

Yep, just feed the bichir with the flesh...

Well, there are records of ppl who feed the whole thing and their fish get choked or the sharp edge of shell accidentally pierce tru some body part etc etc...
De-shell and chop into bite size(unless the crayfish is baby and small enough to feed your fish's mouth) is mainly to play safe...and allow the fish to digest better.
