I do believe that the avg size for Jd is f 8-10"& m 10-12"

oh, dang your right. I think i had a mental lapse lol. I guess i got the convict in his username confused with the jd. In my defense it was pretty early in the morning.

post a pic of your fish. we will then try to see if he looks stunted.

how olds the fish?
amd what do you feed him?
and are your water paremeters perfect?
are there other fish in the tank?if so who?

I will post a pic soon,he gets feed better than me,frozen bloodworms, hikari cichlid staple, the odd feeder fish, hes in with 2 cutteri,3 smaller jacks,4 clown loachs.

I would say for a female 6~7" is normal... up to 10" is possible but rare... males 7~9" is normal... up 11" is possible but rare... there has been a 12" Dempsey here and there but this size is exceptionally rare...

There is debate if the "size" of an aquarium can stunt a fish, but it is known/accepted that poor water quality can stunt a fish... So if he was raised in a 75 gal that had a poor maintenance schedule, it could be stunted... or it could be a fairly averaged sized female... or it could be a healthy but somewhat smaller than average male...

Since the fish is 3 years old or more based on what you've told us... and hasn't grown noticably in the last year... I wouldn't expect him/her to get much longer in the future. The more important thing than size is overall health and good coloring. The varied diet you are offering sounds like a good thing for that aspect.
