geos might work if the dempsey isnt a bully, but only in a larger tank, there are not really any geos that stay small enough to have a proper school in a 65g in addition to a JD, and if the JD starts to feel crowded as they grow then he will be too aggressive for them

No GT, needs at least a 4 foot long tank (footprint is very important)

Here are some good options for you:
1. Convicts
2. Firemouths
3. Blue Acara

You could also try a Texas, but it will probably grow out of that tank eventually.

I agree w/ this. The texas would out grow the tank and there would be some serious agression problems.
