Hi, my Rhaphiodon's always thrash about and one's got a dislocated tooth. :irked:
I pulled it out with a pair of tweezers while the tooth was still loose, hoping that it will grow a straight one out again. Has anyone had any experience on dental issues for these fish? Thanks alot!

I guess its not unusual for them to get their teeth loosened knocked out in the wild when they catch sizeable prey and they do grow new ones so hopefully yours will regrow a new tooth soon enough.

They will grow back. They are sensative to tank mates..... They also need a huge tank as they are VERY skittish. Too small of tank or aggressive tankmates and it will continue to knock it's teeth out and damage it's snout trying to swim through the glass.

Very prone to smashing into the top/lids of the tank at feeding times as well, possibly causing more damage.

VERY neat fish and once adjusted seem very hardy. Just have a few requirements that need attention due to thier skiddish nature.

How big is the fish and how big is the tank?

I have one that's been with me for probobly 5 years now...... It's definetly had it's fair share of dental issues..... Once the housing requirements are met and they get adjusted the issues become much rarer.

Congrats on the pickup of a VERY neat, and grossly underated fish........ You will enjoy!!!

Thanks for the tips, I have 4 of them (hoping to get more cause apparently I'm addicted) which are around 17cm and they are all in a 4m tank with some rays. The rays are very small, no need to panic!:D Plus I use a divider to seperate them from my pair of big Leopoldi's, they are pretty much safe.
They are totally awesome, except their eating habits really fustrate me. I mean it's like they wouldn't even look a feeder if the lights were on, they only eat in the dark.:nilly:

Give it time..... Mine is in a pond and it is able to recognize me when I walk up to it.... It sees me and flies over to the edge of the pond and stares at me till I drop in a piece of shrimp. It takes it and quickly swims to the far side of the pond. After it's finished it comes right back over for another piece.

After they settle in you'll be amazed by thier "backflips".......

I'll get some tonight....Will be moving some of the smaller rays out, as well as my shoal of Odoes. Maybe try to get a vid of the Rhaph feeding as well...
