Denticles??

Ok, with that out of the way........

I notice with great regularity that my largest female seems to utilize the denticles on the lateral (side) portions of her tail to "hook" amorous males by their spiracles and push them away.

She is quite good at it. I can easily tell which male has been her suitor by the rubbed-raw spots around his spiracles.

Anyone else with this or similar observations?

Interesting. I can not really see the one on the disc in the picture. However, the denticles on the tail look completely normal to me as my females have them too.

its directly in the middle of the photo. looks like a white tipped dot.
