Deppii and Rokiels. 2X75 gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys. This is the first CA cichlids I've bought in a while. Always admired them and the LFS had three for sale so i jumped on them. I'm going to add two more as they are indeed rough on each other.
thanks for the heads up. I've noticed their aggression. How do you think a 75 will work for an adult pair and how stable are their pair bonds?

The severums are indeed spooked easily on the bottom. I couldn't get a close up video because of that fact. Those severums will be sold soon as well as they are a second pair. I have the main larger pair in my other tank. This 75 is meant to be a QT tank.

They have beeen fine with the plants.

Thanks. I couldn't tell, but do you have a pair?
I have a male and female in my 150g, but no luck on spawning. From what I've read on them, they sound shy in spawning in community tanks. I have zero aggression from them, even when they are some of the bigger fish in the tank. Also I bought these two at the same size, but the female has grown faster and is bigger than the male.

I had a single Deppii probably about 10 years ago and got rid of it. Now I've been wanting 1 for years.
Gunpowder aquatics has some now. Decent size.

I don't know if I have a pair but adding two more today to let them grow and pair off. I hope a seventy works permanently for a pair.

Here are mine around 5". These are F1 Rio Bobos from Rapps. Catch location is irrelevant in these IMO, because there is no variation in their species. The sad thing about them is the species is facing possible extinction in the wild due to loss of habitat, pollution and the introduction of caprintis which is larger competition for the same foods and the two species hybridizing. Deppii and caprintis are very closely related, maybe even more so than cyano to caprintis. Just hope people don't start calling deppii Texas cichlids lol.
